According to the Trevor Project, nearly 50% of LGBTQ+ youth were unable to access affordable mental health care. Nationwide, the dearth of affordable culturally specific and culturally responsive Black mental health care practitioners continues to be a barrier for Black women and girl survivors of gender-based violence. The #Standing4BlackGirls Wellness Initiative offers free culturally responsive therapy with Black, BIPOC and LGBTQ+-affirming therapists for Black girls, queer youth and Black women across sexuality in partnership with Inglewood’s Open Paths Counseling Center.
